Founded in 2014, EasyMile was created by Gilbert Gagnaire. This Entrepreneur founded Fermat in 1996, a software used in particular for the management of ALM and Basel ratios by banks, sold in 2008 for USD200m. EasyMile has 240 employees (including 130 in R&D) and is positioned in the very buoyant (and fiercely contested) autonomous vehicle segment. Its approach is nevertheless differentiated with i) an objective of level 4 autonomy (autonomy in closed environment) different from the level 5 autonomy (autonomy in open environment) sought by most car manufacturers today and ii) a technological approach which is based on artificial intelligence of the machine learning type monitored by an algorithm whose sole task is not to create an accident.
EasyMile is positioned on two verticals, the transport of people and the transport of goods. In the transport of people, it has developed, in partnership with Ligier Group (manufacturer of vehicles without a license), a shuttle called EZ-10, of which ~110 are in operation to date and which are sold at ~250k€ each. On the freight transport activity EasyMile is advancing with renowned partners who are leaders in their respective sectors in order to develop vehicles adapted to their needs:
Airports / Industries: TLD which has a worldwide market share of 35%
External warehouse logistics: Kamag which has a pdm of 65% in Europe
Ports: Terberg which has a worldwide pdm between 20% and 30%
Logistics warehouses: Kion which is n ° 2 worldwide for forklifts
Founder of EasyMile in 2014. Gilbert is a serial entrepreneur with a “software engineering” background. In particular, he co-founded Fermat in 1996, a risk management software and compliance solutions for banks. Fermat was acquired for $200m by Moody's in 2008. He also built a “boutique hotel” in northern Bali (two-year project) before founding EasyMile. Gilbert received the 2018 entrepreneur prize for the Grand Sud region, Start-up category. Gilbert injected €1m (in tandem with Benoit Perrin, see below, who becomes president of Nanolike) in September 2018 in a takeover of Nanolike (turnover of €200k in 2017) to support the deployment of the company's connected nanosensors.
